You’ve planned your wedding for months now and there isn’t a day that goes by that you don’t think about all of the events that will take place on your special day. Including the hope that everything goes perfectly. We certainly hope it does, and it probably will, but we wanted to give you some information in case it doesn’t and it involves one of your hired vendors.

I was at a wedding recently and one of the businesses hired by the couple didn’t show. I never heard the full story of why they weren’t there nor the outcome but the couple was of course upset, but they went on to have one of the most fun weddings I’ve been to.

Without a doubt it is the vendors responsibility to know what location to be at and what time to be there, but since you can only do your wedding once, it might be a good idea to check in with all of your vendors the week of your wedding to make sure they have everything they need to show and help give you the best day they can.

So let’s assume it’s your wedding day and something goes wrong with one of the businesses you hired. First, since every business is different it’s important to look over the contract to know what rights you have. That said, there is a general rule of thumb you can go by. No vendor wants a bad reputation, so within reason, most reputable vendors will do whatever they can to rectify the situation. Keep in mind too, that some variables are out of their control. Most take a lot of pride in their work so if something doesn’t work out to their satisfaction, they may be the first to step up and work something out. In addition to this, don’t threaten a business. It pretty much eliminates all chances of you working something out in which you can benefit.

If the business hasn’t been able to satisfy your needs and you’ve tried at great length to come to a compromise, you may need to resort to this next scenario. The Better Business Bureau office here in Evansville is set up to provide trust between buyers and sellers, and if the sellers are providing bad service, you are able to report them so that other brides in the future avoid what you’ve gone through. Of course beyond this you may also want to seek legal action if it’s worth your time and money.

Though we hope you don’t have to know any of this because your day is flawless, we want to make sure you have a little bit of information that may help. It may also be a good idea to check out to see if the businesses you chose don’t have a track record before hand by checking the Better Business Bureau site here and references are always great too!
