Tight Budget?

(average: 2.50 out of 5)

It’s no surprise that with a troubled economy, brides and the parents paying for the weddings are cutting back on certain luxuries on the wedding day. We came up with a few ideas (in no particular order) on how to save some money.

  • Instead of having a large lavish dinner, think about having an evening wedding and just serving hors d'oeuvres. Feeding a large amount of people can take up most of your budget.
  • Have your wedding and ceremony at the same place. This can cut out a lot of little costs, such as having to pay for musicians at your ceremony and then a DJ at the reception. You can just hire the DJ to do your music. This also can cut down on decoration expenses since there is only one place you have to decorate and you won’t need a limo.
  • Do you need a limo? If money is your focus, probably not. Get creative with the vehicle you already own.
  • If you’re really tight on money instead of having a professional photographer or videographer, see if you can find a friend that has a camera that help you out.
  • Have someone you know who is great with baking do the cake. It may not be as pretty as a professionally done cake but it fills the appetite just the same.

Ideally it would be great to have a professional do everything at your wedding, it's hard to match the service of our local professionals, but this is a list for the brides that just can’t afford that but still want their day with their future husband to be the best it can be. We want to hear from you. What ideas do you have that we didn’t share?
