Slow Down, Enjoy Your Wedding!

(average: 5.00 out of 5)

Ever since the day your fiancé got down on his knees and asked you to be his beautiful bride, scratch that, ever since you were a little girl, you’ve imagined yourself up in front of your friends and family having  the best day of your life.  With all of that anticipation and planning, the day will fly by faster than you can imagine.  You will be running around from place to place just trying to catch your breath.  I see it all of the time at weddings, but it doesn’t have to be that way.  Every bride is different but here are just a few ideas I have seen put in place that might be of service to you.

First, no matter what schedule you have in your mind for that day, be flexible.  Things happen and the best way to handle them is just to be flexible, pure and simple.  If your photographer is running late, take that time to relax or have a great conversation with your brides’ maids or give your mom or dad a hug.  With all of the hustle and bustle your friends and family can sometimes get left out.   Those are things you’ll remember later in life.

Your fiancé will help as much as he can on the day of, but it’s a good idea to get someone to help that isn’t already thinking about things like, which hand the ring goes on.   Before the wedding, get with your maid of honor and discuss not just the schedule of your day but how you want things to be and let her be your “bull dog”.  A lot of brides try to take on everything themselves.  Let her get things in order, make last minute decisions, and make sure no one is adding pressure to your day.  Sharing the responsibility helps tremendously.

After you’ve said, “I do”, find times to sneak away from the crowd and just enjoy each other, for even a moment.  If it’s a kiss, an embrace, or a walk holding hands, make time for you and your new husband, after all, it’s your wedding!

These suggestions may seem a little obvious, but you’d be surprised at how many brides don’t take full advantage of their day.  I invite anyone and everyone to add to this list of ideas to make the most of your day via our comments section below.
